We all had such tricks. I knew at least five different tricks to make jeans look worn out, but stayed away from them, pronouncing that one should honestly wear them from dark indigo blue all over to remainders of dark blue in the seams.

One thing that was often done was to have a pack of Marlboros recycled with Morava inside :). IOW, whoever had a hardpack, refilled it with whichever cigarettes looked long enough and the color of the filter was close enough.

No idea. The news I read are contradictory - everyone's complaining, and yet I hear about things getting done. The unemployment is still quite high, and a lot of industry is still working far below capacity, if working at all. And then I hear about some success stories... and the images of my city, that I pick from local newspapers' website (and the webmaster there was my roommate once :) look quite decent. So, it looks like it's a mixed bag, can't know until I visit.
