We currently have a system that makes "announcements" on the speakers on the stations or trains, this can be pre-recorded and data base driven (for example when a train reaches some position, a foxpro program checks if there is something to say, and if it is, it pust the message in a queue, another foxpro program is constantly watching the queue and sending the messages (the speakers are like local phone numbers that you can dial) using a C program to play the wav file and dial. Our inmediate goals are 1) get rid of the C program for it only works for some old hardware (as far as I know) and 2) implement some menu-driven callings, like, someone at a station wants to deliver some pre-recorded message to the speakers at the station, so he calls our program, selects the message from the menu, then the program dials to the target station and plays the message, this is just the starting point, once we got this, we are probably going to try more things.
