Minimum version for referenced assemblies

Hello,

In my .NET projects (C#) I add references to assemblies with gereral functionality like an assembly for sending mail. This works fine, until I rebuild the referenced assembly. When this happens my references in my projects are no longer valid.
These general assemblies are registered in the GAC when deployed to the target machine(s). Here I have the same problem. I remove the old assembly and install a new one. All apps that use the assembly are now unable to use the functionality of the assembly.
What I want is to assign a minimum version of the assembly to the referenced assembly, but I can't find a way to accomplish this.
Any idea's?

TIA,
Martin
