Hey Kevin,

It takes years for economic policy changes in government to make an effect in the actual economy itself. The economy started had a downturn in 2000, largely in part because of the bursting of the DOT COM bubble. It was a time bomb waiting to happen. The rise of the dotcom bubble was also partly responsible for growth the economy experienced in the late 90's. It was smoke, and mirrors. All sizzle and no steak.

To blame the current administration for the current economy (which is not really that bad), or to give credit to Clinton for the economy of the 90's, would be giving too much credence the office of the President, IMO.
