I am still not the "typist" I should be. I have used those split ones - but my skills are not yet at the point where it would offer me (or my patrons) any advantage. I still prefer wind-up mainspring watches - what do I know!:-)

There was a SciFi book (Titan) by Delzany (the same guy that pinned Dalghren), where future workers are jacked (a'la Matrix) directly to the "machine". We are getting close to that kind of "instrumentality" now!
