Title:
Long file names - NOT! Need to see long file names in Dos 7
Hi all,
I have a network where I can backup files with long file names. I need to be able to boot a computer with a floppy disk that has network access and then copy the files with the long names from the network to the local hard disk.
If I run dos from within Win 95, xcopy can see and honor the long file names. However, if I shutdown and restart in DOS mode or boot from a DOS 7 disk (via Win 95 sys commands), I can't see or honor the long file names.
Is there a utility out there that will allow me to copy files to the local hard disk and preserve the long file names?
FWIW, I know that I can do this inside Win 95. But I need to be able to do this on a computer that may have dos 7 installed, but not necessarily have win 95 installed.
Thanks,
Fletcher
