Currently in .Net to access VFP data you have a few options:

VFP ODBC driver via .Net ODBC provider
VFE OLE-DB driver via OLEDb provider
COM Interop with VFP app.

All of these have 1 or more 'compatiblity' layers.

So, a high-performance native .Net provider that in addition to supporting the IDB interfaces also had methods that supported xBase like commands such as Locate, Seek, Index, Pack, etc. would be optimal.
