Dear All Experts,

I recently started using sql Server with Vfp. My doubt is regarding record locking.
i simply using SQLEXEC() funtion to do all the data transactions. Even a simple seeking
i m using the same function to store the result into cursor and taking result from
the cursor, ie, treating like a Dbf table. So, in this case record locking is required ?
Can anybody explain the purpose of record locking ? As i understand we need the final
updated value in the record, So, just issue a update command( Even in Dbf files also ),
then why we give more importance to record locking?

Hope someone can clear my doubt in detail

Regards
Abdulla
