I guess this was one of those pedantic teachers and she was supposed to say, "I don't imagine...". We once had an English teacher, in grammar school, who used to make us write out "I must not use get, got, or getting" lines any time he saw any of those words in our work. He argued that there was nowhere where they couldn't be replaced by a more appropriate word. This begs the question of why have the word in the language.
