Hi Simon,

If your client wishes to use local software to map rather than an Internet service, you might want to take a look at Microsoft MapPoint 2004 (it's included in the MSDN Universal subscription, and possibly other MSDN levels as well). In addition to being automatable, MapPoint has an ActiveX control that can easily be implemented in VFP forms.

For more info about developing with the product:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/mappoint

I've done extensive work driving MapPoint from VFP using both VFP and SQL data, for not only displaying single locations (as you describe) but also dispatcher routing (something I'm currently working on), marketing/sales analysis and several other multi-location applications. You're most welcome to contact me privately for specifics about your upcoming project.

As it happens, I'm speaking about this same subject at the Chicago FUDG user group on the 14th of this month (that's a bit of a hike from north of Toronto, though -g-). However, I can send you the sample code from that session afterwards, if you desire.

HTH.
