John argued that VFP was dead even before VFP6.
And he took even the slightest opportunity to push that viewpoint, all the way through VFP6, VFP7, VFP8...

John started out telling us all that we should all switch to VB post-haste. He argued that inheritance was overrated and that VB was all one needed, really.

8+ years later VB is DEAD and VFP is still kicking. Yet folks still praise his "foresight"!?!?!?!

But I do agree with John... VFP is dying. But it's a crusty old fart and just won't go away quietly.

Part of the 'foresight' is that some with VB6 experience had a smoother migration to VS.NET. That's not an absolute - but I've often found that to be the case.

I don't recall JVP specifically stating that inheritance was "overrated", but from other conversations I've had with him, I can understand why some might say that. Having built many reporting modules over the years, inheritance is pretty important....and so are interfaces. ;)
