If you are looking to have a system that is not connected all the time, then you need to look at Sybase SqlAnywhere Studio for your database. The database has the ability to run on multiple platforms including WinCE and Palm. Mobilink is a product that is in the studio that allows synchronizing the data between databases. I have a customer that has 19 databases in three states syncing data every 10 minutes and it works very well. The little known fact is Sybase has about 60% market share for the small database market.
