>Several months ago (Nov. last year I think), FoxPro Advisor ran an article by Gary DeWitt on the subject of creating pointers in VFP. He used HeapAlloc() to get a pointer, and lstrcpy() to copy information to and from the memory space. Naturally, there's more to it than that, but I've played a bit with it and it seems to work just fine.

Cool. I'll see if I can dig up that article. I'm going to give Paul Vlad Tatavu's Pointers class a try (he always seems to have a nice class waiting to solve my problems!). But I'm interested to learn a little more about the technical aspects of it all. It's been so long since I've programmed in C. I have an old version of C++ (1.52!) and I miserably failed at an attempt to create a DLL this morning! Definitely don't know what I'm dealing with there! At any rate, thanks for the tip! I'm sure with all the info I received on my question I'll be able to make some progress soon!

Thanks everyone :-)
