I am new to the topic myself, but as you can see in ".NET for VFP developers" - http://foxcentral.net/microsoft/NETforVFPDevelopers.htm - both have advantages and disadvantages in certain cases. In the end, it is your personal preference, more than anything else, which you choose.

Apart from language considerations: the C# compiler is available for free, VB.NET is not. But if you purchase Visual Studio anyway, that would make no difference.

Also, as my instructor explained, unlike previous development environments, it is fairly easy for one member of a team to program in C#, another in VB, and others in C++.NET or J#, for example - and to integrate everything into a single project.

>Einar - I see you went with C# or are you using both C# and VB.net.

>>>Well, I was just curious what he meant, with his joke. By the way, I am starting to study .NET myself.

>>Hilmar,
>>I started learning .NET (C#) about 18 months ago now). I feel very comfortable with C# and I very seldom miss VFP anymore :) (I don't have any active projects in VFP anymore but I still play around with VFP at home just for fun) After accepting data access in .NET (ADO.NET) I have realized that .NET is great.
>>Good luck learning .NET and I am sure you will be comfortable with .NET very fast.

Difference in opinions hath cost many millions of lives: for instance, whether flesh be bread, or bread be flesh; whether whistling be a vice or a virtue; whether it be better to kiss a post, or throw it into the fire... (from Gulliver's Travels)
