>Thanks, Steve. I'd like to use Rational Rose 4, but the only versions that are available per their Web site are: Forte, Powerbuilder, and SmallTalk.

Ah. Well you should be aware that in my opinion you should just get the vanilla version of Rose (no code generation) and save yourself $400 in the process.

The short bottom line is Rational's code generation is a disaster, their "round-trip engineering" is a disaster, and everything they say is all hype. Trust me, I know. I own most of their products and, Requisite Pro aside, everything (everything) sucks. Whole sleeves of golf balls through a hose.

You see, not to put too fine a point on it (you understand) Rational Software is full of shit. I can honestly say nothing kinder than that. Get vanilla Rose, use it for modeling, and don't expect too much. Their latest version, Rose98, is not ready. It's pathetic, in fact. A months overdue service release is iminent.

Check out the Rose Cafe on their website. Compare it to the Universal Thread. Everything Rational makes and does fails to meet expectations by comparable orders of magnitude.

Rational Software underachieves in avery big way. That said, get in and get out for the minimum ding, which currently is US$1600 for vanilla Rose 4. Plus 15% a year for what they call support.
