Sarah,
For backup, transfer etc. I prefer zip, arj, rar compression utilities. Within them I found the winrar best performing. It could even create multiple volumes compressed exe file. Backup has been always dangerous to me for that "crashes". And instead of tape backups (tapes here proven to be unreliable - we have lost a great amount of data just sitting on the shelf for a long time) I prefer having removable disks that I can cary here&there (every HD in fact a removable one provided you keep cases open as I do). Using a "transfer" HD as d: drive in both home and office seem practical and cheap.
