VFP is to me first of all an allpurpose development tool for applications that focus on data. VFP has the opbject model and the interface building tools to allow rapid development of full integrated applications.

VFP is also a tool that is capable of building sophisticated backend server objects to provide data to divergent front end consummers. This role is especially important in internet applications.

VFP really shines as a middle tier building tool. The particular middle tier may be a business object or some other middle tier object. When the VFP app is built into a DLL its classes can be enstatntiated by any client for com servers adn this makes it very powerful.
