I noticed that this is unanswered so late. You don't need the close the form. You can change filter anytime.

do form invoices with m.pkey
* Form is running and you want to change the filter
* Precautions to leave current rec, save etc are taken
select invoices
set filter to <newFilterExpression>
locate
thisform.refresh

Filters are slightly slow but for now it's easy for you to use I think.
