Have you seen VFP Samples / Solution / New in VFP 9 / Dockable Image Viewer.
With it you can have any size of image with zoom. It should work in VFP8 SP1 too.

See "Graphics Support in Visual FoxPro" from VFP help for supported graphic formats (ca. ~17).
