As I said in another reply/CC I need to store some font info, e.g. name, colour, size, etc., as a string, and it's this that MapInfo uses to display the symbol on the map. MapInfo ships with several of these specialised fonts, e.g with a map "church" symbol.
So I've decided to try and tackle this in MapBasic (primitive though it is), where there is the SymbolPicker() fn. that returns all this info.
