However, you only want the ACTIVE cell in the column to show the spinner. An entire column of spinners is confusing to the user. So you have 2 controls, the basic text box for inactive cells and the spinner for the active cell. You control this with SPARSE = .F.

Thanks, that was a helpful example. In fact, I have created a grid which displays a spinner in the entire column and you're right, it is confusing.
