Jack, I use the approach with small VFP LAUNCHER.EXE which checks for presence of updated .APP file version on the network then [copies .APP to the local mashine and] runs it. It was described in January 1997 FPA by Edward Leafe.
As George said, there is no need to install VFP itself to the user PC and buy additional licences.
