Yo Ed, David....

I hate to disagree with you guys (and strongly so) but without the source code, it is very difficult to track all the subtleties in data validation rules in snippets and post-READ. If you simply rely on the runtime of the old FPD app to *visually* migrate the application, you will either spend a lot of time fixing the new app or will lose/overlook critical business and data rules.

>>Migration is probably not exact word for FPD to VFP conversion anyway. If you want to get good product on VFP side, you will have to allocate considerable amount of resources for redesigning of the system. Surely, source code would be helpful here, but what is good VFP developer will really need in this situation is good database analysis (data is right here) and two computers: one with old system running and another one for VFP development.

>I agree with Ed. Most of the applications I move to VFP from DOS land end up being a complete redesign and end-users usually take that opportunity to ask for enhancements or changes that they may of wanted for awhile.

>While the source code would be helpful for extracting undocumented business rules, it may not be completely necessary.
