The only time you might need SET DELETED OFF is when checking for table corruption. If a deleted record in a memo table is corrupted at the field level (Error 41) you might not know for months because no regular command (SELECT * FROM etc) will look at the bad field. However, any structural change to the table (ALTER TABLE etc) will fail.
