It is almost the same but not exactly.

With both you can change the directory but whats differs is that CD also shows the directory.

Try this to see the difference:

1) With mouse click VFP menu -> File | Open | Samples / Solution / Solution.pjx
- solution.pjx is opened from ..\samples\solution drectory

2) CD
- Shows your home directory and directory is not changed

3) Try again from VFP menu -> File | Open |
- now the open window shows already the solution directory. No change with the CD

4) SET DEFAUL TO
- Directory is not changed but next time when you try File | Open, open window shows the home directory

So there is a small difference.
