Hi Malcolm and all

>When I see interpreted languages such as Forth, Lisp, Jscript (Javascript) being ported to .NET or data centric languages like COBOL or PHP (MySQL), I have to scratch my head and wonder ...

Don't scratch we'll end up hurting ourselves. I guess the VFP community has to stop thinking in tradtional terms of a new version. Get ourselves to develop more and more VFP app with (as per requirement) either DBC's or any RDBMS with the lowest specs in terms of OS's and hardwares. Let us show the world that this is a language of choice as far as data goes.

Hey I have seen a lot of win98's using VFP apps nicely. Why increase the cost of our clients by making them move over to the latest OS's. If I am not mistaken VFP9 apps don't work on Win98's why make the clients pay for XP to get our apps to work. You see where this is all leading, cannibalize one's own older OS by providing productivity tools that don't produce for older OS's so that the new OS's are sold. We are not talking enterprises here (with globs of money) we are talking of small shop / factory owners which I guess is the biggest market and for small fries like me they are my bread and butter.
Regards
Bhavbhuti
