I have just installed the most recent version of SQL Express and can work with the test databases that come with the download. I can use the Express manager to run queries, etc. However, I am having problems using SQL Passthrough with VFP.

I have installed SQL Express on my local machine. I then went into my Data Source Administrator to try and set up a DSN for SQL Express. I select the SQL Native Client driver from the list and follow the basic prompts. The setup program can see that I have a SQL Server running on my (local) machine so I select that from the list. But when trying to login to the server, I get an error message stating:

"No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it"

I also get the same message when running this code in VFP:

SQLStringConnect("driver=sql native client;server=(local);database=Northwind")

Has anyone come across this problem before?

I can open the databases and connect through VB 2005 if that helps any. I must be doing something wrong.
