Hey Peter,
I´m moved this subthread from the 'My'-madness / flood to a new thread, so it doesn´t get totally buried.

So (MS patent), I checked out the c9 About and Doctrine box to learn more.
My initial impression had been that Robert Scoble had good contacts to MS, but from About it gets apparent that he´s an MS employee.

Interestingly their (group of 5) About video was done pretty professionally. <grin>

c9 is their baby and so they seem to insist on the way they´ve been doing it for quite some time now.

I´ll try again to put a LITTLE twist on the way they do the videos in the comment section of Ken´s video, not to give people instant nausea and to facilitate downloading (seperate streams).

Please go there and sign if you share my POV.
Cheers
G

I don't have any problems with the video and don't think it is an issue for most people, as the first VFP 9.0 video on Channel 9 has over 124,000 views and is ranked #4 as the most watched on http://channel9.msdn.com. I think the video is more stable later in the video. Plus, you don't have to watch the entire video as you can listen to much of it and get possible useful information from the discussion audio.

>>Being the originator of this subthread, I wondered who this Scoble is. Having searched a bit on C9 (Channel 9) I now get the impression that C9 is MS's intranet-site (nevertheless on the internet) where MS-employees can experiment a lot. And Scoble is then indeed an experimentator. Things are now somewhat clearer to me.
1) Your criticism on Scoble. C9 is on the internet, so those videos can reach everybody and thus can also have a negative impact, because they are so amateurish. I fully share your view.
2) I understand why Ken cooperated, but I disagree here. The video reaches the internet, also because Ken promotes it (e.g. here). I dislike the idea that it is seen by people who have to make a decision about whether or not the use VFP. It just gives an amateurish impression, not about Scoble or C9 (who they don't know), but about VFP and even about Ken Levy, the product manager.

I truly enjoyed the video. Thank you Ken. However, everything can always be improved. Is there anyway in the future to do a splitscreen? Having the code in one side continously and perhaps the individuals on the other side would be ideal. Now, to improve on the idea even more would be the ability to maximize either side of the screen (image) depending on which you, as a viewer, wanted to focus on. I know one day MSFT will accomplish this... :o)

After 2 minutes I've given up watching the video. The cameraman/interviewer is constantly focusing on other parts of the lcd screen and that's very amateuristic and made me dizzy. Ken, you must be very 'open' (accessible) to allow them to produce such a video. Perhaps a bit too open? I would have been more critical towards them, certainly afterwards after having seen the video.
