I have seen this. I know what causes it and how to fix it but dont know exactly when the setting is reset.

To fix, from the menu:

Tools/Options - VIEW tab, and make sure the "System Messages" is ticked. Click "Set as Default" and Voila - visual indication.

Till I found this, whenever I did a recompile, I thought VFP had crashed.
