I am interested in hearing other developers oppinion about installing assemblies into the GAC or into the application folder when installing an app for a customer. If you build several apps that use the same assembly there is ofcourse some overhead by installing it in the app folder, but with harddrives the size they are today it is not a big problem.

I have up until now not installed stuff into the GAC because I am affraid that if I install it in the GAC I will forget to include that dll in the install (yeah I know I should test the install before giving it to a customer but you know how it is). Do you guys install "everything" into the GAC on your development machine(s)?

I think it is M$'s wish that .NET assemblies should be installed in the GAC. I guess I am just a rebel for sugesting not to do so (must be since I have a Fox background<s>)

Any GAC thoughts are appreciated.
