With respect to energy, I think several alternatives should be investigated. The current situation is not at all ideal, and a research investment of 10 billion, or even a trillion, dollars or euros doesn't seem like much, if it will eventually help to solve one of the major problems of the World. (For comparison, the World is spending a trillion dollars
per annum for armament.)
