< I'm dying to hear what the future holds for CBMM.
I heard this from Ed Leafe in his forum:
" For those of you who could not attend, the main news announced at that meeting is that there will be a new version of Codebook released by the end of the summer . It will be written by Y. Alan Griver and CT Blankenship of Flash ( yes, CT is now a Flasher! ), and myself. It will incorporate the errata corrections, the changes CT made in his SAVI Codebook, all of the eBizObj classlibs, as well as many of the internal improvements Flash has made to the framework over the last 3 years."
I also read in some magazine reviews of the beta that VFP 6.0 will have it's own "framework" classes, the Visual Foxpro Foundation Classes or some such thing.
How will all these mesh with future versions of CBMM?>>
Although our Mere Mortals Framework was originally based on VFP3 Codebook, we have always culled ideas for the Framework’s evolution from a wide variety of sources in addition to the enhancements we develop at Oak Leaf . At this point the vast majority of the classes have been completely reworked and enhanced. As you know we also avoid reinventing the wheel where possible by integrating with 3rd party products such as INTL and Stonefield and we will continue to integrate with other tools in the future.
Based on this, Alan’s updated Codebook will be one more choice of a framework for Visual FoxPro developers. Of course we believe that Mere Mortals continues to be a great choice for developers who want to create flexible and adaptable applications rapidly AND be educated throughout the development process. We have been working on our VFP 6.0 version for several months now and there are a lot of great enhancements in store. We have taken advantage of the new Component Gallery by integrating and enhancing the FoxPro Foundation Classes. As usual our new version of Mere Mortals will be backward compatible with existing versions.
