He lied? Surprise! They all do. Reagan did more for the domestic economy that anyone since Roosevelt. He at least - like the current president - believed in what he was trying to do, rather than playing with cigars in the oval office. I would rather have someone of conviction than some clown I can find at any country club. I also think Carter had a firm belief in what he was doing, but he was wishy-washy and not nearly as effective.
