>I may seem more liberal to you, but actually I'm more centrist and am a conservative in regards to crime.
>Regarding financing I'm also a centrist but I agreed with the president and am for CAFTA. Did I vote democratic? Yes. Am I against this war on false pretenses? Yes. I support the troops and believe we should supply them properly (e.g. armor) and fund the VA properly. This President and Republican Congress let the VA have a 1 billion shortfall and repelled the Murray Amendment until pressured last week by Democrats.

I don't think many people are all one way or another. To me, a liberal is a person who supports good intentions and disregards the outcome. A conservative supports good intentions, but expects a return on the investment. As an example, we went with our outreach ministry downtown yesterday and fed the homeless (around 80 people) - after they heard a short message. My church is a very large one with lots of resources, but we also spend a lot of money on many ministries - inside and outside the US. I asked about measuring our effectiveness with the homeless and was told, that wasn't done. We are just spreading the seeds. Well, I can see that, but it doesn't sit well with me. If we really want the homeless to have a different lifestyle, it's gonna take more involvement. Some will never be able to adapt because they have mental illness issues and the government has turned them out of the mental health facilities. We ought to take care of them, because they can't. For the others, I would create a system that gets them partnered with the churches and businesses and puts them back into self sufficiency. For those who don't want to work and take care of themselves, if able, I would remove them from the community. The last group is your basic criminal element. It seems to me, we are feeding the homeless just so we can feel good about ourselves.
