>Yeah, I came across the expression while watching a TV drama in Canada, where 2 native Americans met and asked each other his origin. Must admit I'd assumed Dene to mean all the rest bar the Innuit (as in now that Innuit don't like to be called "flesh eaters?", so the others no longer paint themselves red, nor come from the Indies - which is why they were called Indians, is it not, as explorers thought they'd found the Indies?)
