To me, it proves that the mix of religion and marriage usually creates additional pressure, because it starts with wrong assumptions, applies wrong healing, and creates more trouble than there would otherwise be. But that's just my opinion, I figure you wouldn't agree.
I assume you may think that having less choice when marrying (staying away from anyone belonging to a different church, race or social status), having more pressure towards shotgun wedding is probably the recipe for good, happy and lasting marriages.
