>>I do believe that we are to take the Bible literally and are to interpret it even in our "modern" times.

>That's illogical. Who decides which parts to take litterally and which parts to interpret?

You're right - it does sound a little strange doesn't it. I guess what I meant was that I believe the Bible is God's word. It is not to be added to or taken away from. In some places the message is clear and one is able to read it and understand it's meaning as it is written. In other places, one must spend time studying the context of the passage - how the passage compares to other scripture - the original languge used and the come to a conclusion about its meaning. Is that better?
>> However, you have not even provided evidence that God approved of polygamy.

>I never said that god approved of polygamy. You said "Anything that is done in accordance with the Bible I would consider morally right". If you take a 2nd wife as per that Exodus quote, then according to you that is morally right and pro family.
As above, if you read the whole Bible and compare that passage with others, you can discern God's plan for the family. He started with one man and one woman. There were cases where men had more than one wife - that was socially accepted and something that occurred. Just because the Bible mentions that as a possibility does not mean it approves of the practice.
