>Sorry, what I looking for is how you came to conclude that capital punishment and war is allowed under gods plan or in the eyes of jesus. I could be wrong on this but I thought Jesus was opposed to murder in all forms, including self defense. If your views and those of Jesus do not line up, does that concern you that you have made a mistake on this issue and maybe others and you are subject to eternity in hell because of it?

Okay - now I understand - thanks for clearing that up!
The Old Testament (Exodus) is full of stories where God commands the Israelites to wipe out entire cities - men, women and children. In Eccl 3:3 states there is a time to kill. There are numerous passages in Leviticus where capitol punishment is outlined and commanded. So, I have no problem stating it is okay to kill is certain instances.
In the New Testamant Jesus says that even if we are angry at a brother, we have already committed murder in our hearts. I think the intent of "Thou shalt not murder" is that one kills another out of anger - I don't think it means that that killing of others is not allowed at all. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the killing of another person is something that should be taken lightly. I'm just saying there are times when that is required.
Does that clear it up any - or - did I just make it more confusing?
