No - didn't miss Civics class... What was the law based on?Based on British Law, and precedence and common sense, and politics.
Why are the 10 commandments posted so prominently around the nation's Capitol?Because they want to, and the Supreme Court ruled that's OK as long as it ios not done in a religious wayor a religious display. We cannot, shpould not endorse any particular religuion. The 10 Commandments are by themselves not religiousbut just common sense.
Why do we STILL pray before congressional sessions?Because they want to, regardless of being somewhat unconstitutional.
>If we're trying to use capitol punishment as a deterrent, don't you think doing in public would be more effective? If detterence is not the goal, then it should not be done in public. My preference would be that we use it as a deterrent and make it public - put it on TV!OK. That's you ropinion. Would certainly make for Reality TV.
>>Take all the time you want. The law will not change much in the meantime.

>As long as nothing comes up before the Supreme Court anytime soon...Oh, it's coming, Roe v. Wade's days are numbered and a few other laws will be tried rather soon.
