>>I guess all I'm saying is that I'd like to see us use the Bible as our standard instead of man's ever changing mind. We need to have a solid foundation on which we make our laws. I believe that used to be the Bible and I'd like to see us return to that.

>I've tried to stay out of this discussion, but you have hit one of my hot buttons. The bible has changed more often than most women change their clothes. How many translation errors have been introduced migration biblical books to other languages? The bible itself is a political book that has changed with the prevailing attitude of the times. The Nicean (sp?) coucil threw out the books they didn't agree with, added others and reorganized the bible into a teaching book that dealt what they wanted it to say.

>There have been many "modern" translations attempting to put the bible into today speak. One sect in America has a version where any reference to God as He has been replaced with He/She. Give me a break.

Can you substantiate that? What has changed about the Bible? Can you be more specific?

There are different translations - I agree with you there. One must be careful to pick one that closely resembles the original documents.
