Hi Kevin

>Since you raised the concept of "fairness"...do you believe it's fair to refer to the product as "dot not"? IMO, it's not very professional - about as sophisticated as a bunch of kids doing a play on words to ridicule another kid's last name.

With that I have to agree! You will have noted that neither I, nor Craig, "knock" .NET

>There's no question that moving to .NET means a huge shift and a big investment. These links point that out, though they make some conclusions that I don't necessarily agree with.

Which is, of course, entirely right and proper. If we all agreed with each other all of the time the world would be a very boring place indeed :)

>I'm seeing a return on investment on .NET work, and I'm sure others have well, though the level will vary greatly.

Of course they will. If you read my comments closely you will see that my concern was, and is, the extent to which Microsoft are turning themselves into a one-product company. That is, in itself not necessarily a bad thing, assuming that .NET is the 'right' one product. My position is simply that it is not.

Of course, that's just my opinion and it has as much (or as little) value as anyone else's

(Incidentally I don't know who posted the link to my Blog on the UT news page - I certainly was not asked if I wanted it there. But I guess that's the freedom of the Blogosphere for you).
