This may not be the one that was referred to but I am thinking of "Greenville" by Lucinda Williams, who is about the best thing going in a barren singer-songwriter scene.

As far as the Jesus debate, I have my opinions but will keep them to myself. This is truly the debate in which no one will ever change their opinion. Wasted words.
