In your blog posting, you sounded pretty dissatisfied with .NET, but were unwilling to change. MS relies on that. With their monopoly power and their huge mound of cash, they can keep plugging away until they either get it right or at least get everyone reasonably satisfied. No other company out there has that luxury. But if people said "I'm taking out the nose ring that you lead me around with and I'm going to use other products," maybe things might change a bit. This is, in fact, why Linux continues to grow . . .

>>Since you raised the concept of "fairness"...do you believe it's fair to refer to the product as "dot not"? IMO, it's not very professional - about as sophisticated as a bunch of kids doing a play on words to ridicule another kid's last name.

>>>With that I have to agree! You will have noted that neither I, nor Craig, "knock" .NET

>And I agree with you also. As Andy says, neither of us are 'knocking' .Net. At Talman for example we use ASP.Net to generate a fair percentage of our income, so ridiculing a product is not going to achieve much. Perhaps the author of the original thread just thought it a catchy title?

>>>(Incidentally I don't know who posted the link to my Blog on the UT news page - I certainly was not asked if I wanted it there. But I guess that's the freedom of the Blogosphere for you).

>Yes, my experience also. And I'm glad the link was posted. It is important we discuss these concerns if we are to make informed long term decisions.
