I've noticed the same thing and it was caused by the default printer being a network printer or unavailable printer. Try changing the default printer (as Craig Bernston suggested), if you don't have another one then just add one (printer and faxes) and set it to print to a file instead of a port.

>I just moved to a new laptop- a top of the line dell inspirion 6000. The wide screen if perfect for VFP development and everything is perfect except that reports come up very very slowly in development mode. If I type 'modi repo rep1' and hit enter it takes from 3 to 5 seconds for the report to come up. Everything else is almost instantenous. The directory where the reports are is in the path. What should I look for? Thanks.
