Hi,

Not sure where to post this. Put it on the Microsoft Windows/Windows 2000 App compatibility forum a few weeks ago and on VFUG but have had no replies.

Have recently upgraded a client's hardware and he is now using a Windows 2003 SP1 server and WXP Pro SP2 on all stations except one (W2K Pro SP4).

The core application developped in VFP 6.0 SP5 works fine but I noticed that
an SQL request on the old W2K station was about 20 times faster (with half
the RAM) than the new WXP stations. As a test, I changed the applications
compatibility to W2K on a WXP station, and the SQL request is now faster on
the WXP station.

Can anyone point me to documentation on this W2K compatibility feature and
explain why the application now works faster.

Is the problem related to the use of WXP or W2003 Server?

One reason that I need a solution is that in order to change the compatibility parameter, the application (.EXE) must reside on the local disk. For maintenance purposes, I prefer to use a common executable that resides on the file server. Does any know of a simple way of updating the local version on a WXP station when the application is upgraded on the server?
