When I said that, I didn't really mean it. My great preference is for 20's and 30's music, but in fact, Toronto has had an excellent jazz scene for a long time. As far as I know, Toronto has the only 24 hour jazz radio station in Canada (if not in North America). Jazz FM91 or, on the net, www.jazz.fm

Unfortunately, one of the best venues in the city (The Senator) is just closing. They've been bought, and are closing for renovations. Whether they will be reopening for Jazz or for some other sort of music is anybody's guess right now, but the smart money is not on jazz.

The Downtown Jazz Festival just recently ended, and the Beaches Jazz Festival is just about to begin. There are 4 or 5 in the [fairly] immediate vicinity during the summer.

Don't know the bands you mentioned, but if it's too electro-skronk, I'm unlikely to be a fan. I like some music in my music. I can listen to a guy like James Carter all day.
