Absolutely class the button. Create a new container class based on your abstract container class, add a label and image from the form designer. For your bingo problem, you could use a little 24x24 pxl image simulating a red light and another for a green light. If the number is called the user clicks the square and the red image changes to green.

Containers are very useful base classes upon which to build custom controls. I use them to simulate all sorts of buttons and other objects.
