>>>Yes, extremely interesting. I have a copy of the Library, and what put me onto it, strangely enough was a book I read mmmblmmmbl years ago called 'Valis', by Phillip K. Dick. <

>>Sci-fi is not my genre but there was a guy who had a serious impact in Hollywood. He wrote one book called "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" that was made into "Blade Runner." Another called "We Can Remember It For You Wholedale" was made into "Total Recall." Another of his stories, name unchanged, was made into "Minority Report." Not bad for a guy who died little known.

>The odd thing was that 'We Can Remember It For You Wholsale' and 'Minority Report' were really just short stories.

>He died little known only outside of his genre. In the world of Sci-Fi, he was everybody's idol. There aren't probably more than a very few writers who have the impact and influence on the genre that Dick had. Maybe Wolfe, Asimov, Clark, Heinlein and a couple others, and of those, only Gene Wolfe (IMHO) could hold a candle to Dick when it came to emotional intensity and thought provoking value.
He probably remained obscure cos of the bum titles. If he'd used the movie titles they'd have been more eye-catching.
