>>How do you feel about the Hiroshima bomb? Was it justified - because of its result? By the way, I'm not trying to compare what God did to that - but - just curious what your thoughts were on that subject...

>My viewpoint on the use of the atomic bomb against Japan is mixed. It opened Pandora’s Box, while ending the war with Japan. Many experts claim that millions of lives were saved. Have you ever read about the battle for Okinawa? My father “enjoyed that experience” as a United States Marine from it’s beginning on April 1, 1945 through the month of June of that year.

No - never read that one. I'm really not much of a history buff...just curious what Alex (and others) thought of the bomb.

>More people died during the Battle of Okinawa than all those killed during the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Casualties totaled more than 38,000 Americans wounded and 12,000 killed or missing, more than 107,000 Japanese soldiers killed, and as many as 150,000 Okinawan civilians were killed in the battle.

>The firestorm created by the RAF and US Air Corp in August of 1943 by bombing Hamburg, Germany, killed about the same number of people killed in Hiroshima by the atom bomb. This is a fact not often discussed perhaps because we are comparing conventional and atomic weapons or it could be that German casualties are of no significance.

>Personality I do not feel there is justification for waging war or fighting another person if both parties respect each other. Since mankind prefers to have disrespect for itself, war is inevitable.

>Is there but one value of morality that exists or are there many degrees of morality? To me there is one value of morality. Mankind prefers to create it’s own qualifications and justifications for what it calls morality. This allows countries to say, "God is on our side"!

I agree that some do tend to use morality for their own personal gain. I also agree that practice is wrong.
