>>what i REALY can recomend is itunes from apple. it has various settings on how to rip the the cd and is so far the best catalouging application i've seen. you can nicely/easely group/filter/catagorize all the songs and then burn from those groups.
>>
>>i've recorded all my cd's (about 6 days continues music), then whent though the work of catagorizing each one of them including rating, etc. i now have several groups which can can easely play on parties. the songs 'cross-fade' so between the songs is no dead time.

oops, sorry about that, i should finish my coffee in the morning before i read {s}.

no, iTunes can not rip DVD's.

ja iTunes is free of use, their money cow is the iPod (possible to connect to iTunes), and the iTunes music store (you don't have to buy there). so, ja the cd-ripping, catalogging, and the burning function are free.

sorry, with the DVD stuff i can't help you, i don't have a dvd-burner :-(
